New Free Short Course: Genetic Testing for Breast Cancer

A new, free, self-paced short course is now available through the University of Technology Open Courses. Developed by senior cancer genetic counsellors, learning designers, and reviewed by clinical geneticists, this course covers the critical steps required for treatment-focused breast cancer mainstream genetic testing.

Designed specifically for Australian oncology health professionals in line with recent changes to Medicare, this course equips learners with essential skills to facilitate genetic testing, obtain informed consent, interpret, and deliver test results, and identify when to refer patients to a genetic counselling service. The course is interactive, evidence-based, and up to date. It provides learners with a practical understanding of the genetic testing process to effectively support breast cancer patients. Learners will receive a UTS Open certificate upon completion of the course.
