Cancer Nurses Day | Message from the Board of Directors

Thursday the 15th of August marks the inaugural Cancer Nurses Day here in Australia. This special day is all about recognising and celebrating the incredible work of the 7,500 cancer nurses across the country.

Our theme for this year is "Strong, Skilled, Specialised." It highlights how as cancer nurses, we are not only strong in supporting our patients, but we are highly skilled in practice and we are exceptionally specialised in knowledge.

Every day, cancer nurses are at the forefront of research, prevention, treatment, and care, and we make a profound difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

With the nursing workforce facing many challenges and opportunities, it’s more important than ever to honour the dedication and impact of cancer nurses and our contribution to improving patient outcomes.

On Thursday the 15 of August, and every day, we celebrate your unwavering commitment and the vital role you play in shaping the future of cancer care.

To support Cancer Nurses Day, and the recognition of the role of cancer nurses in the Australian healthcare system, we have released a Position Statement to highlight the Contribution of Cancer Nurses to Improve Outcomes for Individuals Impacted by Cancer.

This is a day for us, about us, and showcasing us. Together, we are making a difference.

We are so proud to represent you on the Board of Directors, and to be holding our organisation, and our profession, up in bright lights.

With thanks, and heartfelt gratitude,

The CNSA Board of Directors
