Did you know up to 59% of patients with cancer have difficult intravenous access (DIVA)? This means it is more challenging to successfully insert a peripheral intravenous cannula (PIVC) without employing advanced techniques such as using ultrasound. Patients can endure multiple attempts, sometimes up to 8-10 times to successfully insert a PIVC. This further contributes to poor vein health and patient experience.

Australia’s National Clinical Guidelines for Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), developed by and for the Australian haematology community to provide expert-driven, evidence-based treatment recommendations, are now available.

Developed in partnership with Flinders University’s Caring Futures Institute (CFI), the Cancer Statewide Clinical Network and the Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health (CEIH), this comprehensive Framework aims to ensure timely and equitable access to cancer care services for all South Australians, by improving their navigation of the healthcare system.
