Cancer Nursing Education Portal
About the Project
Thanks to grant funding from the Australian Government, CNSA is delivering a multi-phase initiative to build a national Cancer Nurse Education Portal — a centralised, accessible platform that connects cancer nurses with relevant, high-quality, evidence-based professional development opportunities across Australia. This is part of the $16.5 million committed to the Cancer Patient Support Program, a component of the Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program. The aim is to provide better outcomes for people affected by cancer and increase equity across tumour types.
This project will:
- Audit and map cancer-specific nursing education across all providers and formats in Australia
- Develop a comprehensive, searchable education database
- Build an online education portal to search and access links to external education aligned to specific cancer nursing career pathways.
- Undertake a Gap analysis to identify unmet educational needs of cancer nurses in Australia.
- Create Rapid-learning modules to meet specific identified gaps in the educational needs of cancer nurses.
How Your Organisation Can Get Involved
We will soon invite stakeholders — including education providers, health services, government agencies, professional bodies, universities and cancer care organisations — to contribute to our national scoping review.
Your involvement will include:
-
Completing an Education Audit/Checklist
You will receive a structured tool to capture information about any cancer-specific education programs your organisation offers, including format, audience, delivery method, and topic areas. -
Participating in a Stakeholder Focus Group
Following the audit, we will be hosting a series of national focus groups to explore insights, challenges, and opportunities in cancer nurse education — and identify where future effort should be prioritised.
Your input will directly inform the design of the Education Portal and help ensure it reflects the current landscape, avoids duplication, and addresses real-world needs.
Why Participate?
By contributing, your organisation will:
- Help shape a national solution to improve access to cancer nurse education
- Highlight and promote your existing programs to a wider audience
- Identify areas for collaboration, innovation, and resource sharing
- Play a key role in building a stronger, more connected cancer nursing workforce
