Cancer Nursing Career Pathway
If you are looking for the existing National Professional Framework for Cancer Nursing (EdCaN), this can still be accessed here.
As a part of CNSA's commitment to supporting cancer nurses' professional development, we are currently undertaking a project to produce a Comprehensive Cancer Nursing Framework (Framework) in collaboration with Flinders University. The updated Framework will detail the range of clinical competencies, capabilities and professional development career pathways of cancer nurses working in Australia today. You can access a publication on the proposed rationale for the project here.
Phase 1: An environmental scan and literature scoping review undertaken to examine specialist nursing competency and educational pathways locally and globally. You can read the details of this phase of the project in the first publication here.
Phase 2: Mapping the pathways to specialisation for cancer nurses in Australia as part of a consultative process a Framework Advisory Committee was convened with representation from national cancer nursing experts, and focus groups will be conducted with different sections of the workforce, to inform and develop consensus on an agreed-upon approach to the Framework.
Phase 3: Expected launch date in late 2025.
