Annual Congress Grants

Our Annual Congress Grants are annual grants that open in February, awarding members up to $1,000 to help subsidise costs associated with attending the CNSA Annual Congress.

Ten grants of up to $1000 each will be available to support member attendance at our 2025 Congress, Global Voices, Local Action: From Inspiration to Implementation, taking place in Adelaide from June 18-21.

Thanks to the generous support of our State Groups, these Congress Grants aim to provide financial assistance to cover associated Congress costs, such as registration, travel, or accommodation.

Congress grant appliactions are currenty closed and will open in February 2025

Who Should Apply?

Congress Grants are available for full CNSA members who have been members for over 12 months. It's important to us that you're committed to the profession, and our organisation, to access these funds. However, we want to emphasise that our long-term members are equally valued and encouraged to apply! No length precludes you from applying.

You don’t have to be facing severe financial struggles to apply for a Congress Grant. Whether you’re in need of support due to financial constraints, or just mindful of travel and accommodation expenses, we welcome applications from all of our members. Our goal is to ensure that Congress attendance is within reach for everyone, regardless of financial circumstances.

Please note - to support as many of our members as possible, past Congress grant recipients are ineligible to apply for another award in this program for two years from date of grant submission.

Grant recipients must be available to attend all three days of Congress.

What You Need to Provide

Completing the Congress Grant application form requires less than 15 minutes. We're eager to hear more about why you’re passionate about attending and the benefits you’re hoping to gain from the experience. It's important to outline your professional objectives for attending and explain how you plan to disseminate your learnings among peers. We’ll also ask you to include your bank details should your application be successful.

Reporting Requirements

All successful Congress Grant recipients will be required to submit a written report to the CNSA Education Standing Committee within two months of completing the supported activity to tell us more about their experience at Congress.

The report must be completed using the designated CNSA Professional Development Grant Program Report Form.

Hints and Tips for 2025 Congress Grant Applications

Make your application stand out with these top tips from our Education Standing Committee:

  • This year’s Congress theme is Global Voices, Local Action: From Inspiration to Implementation. When you’re outlining your objectives, aim to align as much as possible with our theme.
  • We want to hear about your passion for advancing cancer nursing and improving outcomes for patients and families. Try to express this throughout your application.
  • We're keen to understand how your participation in Congress will not only benefit you personally but also contribute to the broader cancer nursing community. Try to think about both perspectives when completing your answers.
  • We want you to get the most out of your Congress experience. Consider participation in activities that demonstrate active professional development or improving your networking such as attending Pre-Congress Symposiums or speaking with external stakeholders. Tell us about this in your application.

What Happens After Applying?

After submission, your application will be reviewed by our Education Standing Committee. Preference will be given to those with abstract submissions or professional commitments at the event. Successful applicants will be notified within four weeks of the application closing date. Recipients will be announced in the CNSA Newsletter and via social media. The committee will determine fund allocation up to $1000 per person, and successful applicants must submit a report within two months of completing the supported activity.

Congress Grants are made possible through the generous support of our State Groups. Among these, the grant from our VIC/TAS State Group is dedicated to honouring the memory of Nicole King. Nicole's legacy as a former CNSA member, Chair of the CNSA Education Committee, and esteemed Nurse Educator remains an inspiration. Following her passing in 2011, our VIC/TAS Stat Group Group established the Nicole King Professional Development Grant, a testament to her impact and commitment to the cancer nursing community.
