About Us > About CNSA
Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA) was founded in 1998. Its beginnings were in the then Nurses group of the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA). Today CNSA remains as the nursing group within COSA while maintaining its status as an independent body for cancer nurses in Australia. CNSA is committed to achieving and promoting excellence in cancer care through the professional contributions of nurses. Today we have almost 900 members throughout Australia.
CNSA is a membership based orginazation that has been developed to serve cancer nurses in Australia. A National Executive Committee that comprises elected representatives from all states and territories, and a nationally elected Chairperson govern CNSA. Contact details for the National Executive Committee can be located on this website.
A Highlight of the CNSA calender is our annual winter congress. This is a two day scientific meeting where nurses have an opportunity to hear about research and practice issues related to cancer nursing. CNSA held its first Annual Congress in 1998, and it has grown each year. It is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.
As a cancer nurse there are many ways to be involved in CNSA. We have both regional and special interest groups. Information on both these activities can be found on the navigator bar. CNSA has also established standing committees for core areas of activity, as well as special project teams that are set up from time to time to undertake short term projects for CNSA. Information about CNSA standing committees and our current project teams can also be found on the relevant WebPages.
